Dear all,
this is what we did yesterday in class:
-we revised our homework playing this game
- we finished the listening exercise on page 68 (exercise 2)
- we did exercise 3a on page 69
- I explained the grammar on page 218 5A can/can´t
can/can't + infinitive for ability/possiblity/permission:
- POSITIVE + I/you/he/she/it/we/they can + infinitive
- NEGATIVE - I/you/he/she/it/we/they can't + infinitive
- QUESTIONS - invert 'can' and the subject - no auxiliary verb!
Can I/you/he/she/it/we/they + infinitive?
- Short answers:
Yes, I/you/he/she/it/we/they can.
No, I/you/he/she/it/we/they can't.
Remember CAN/CAN'T is the same form for all persons. I can, she can etc. No -s for the third person singular.
Can/Can´t don't use auxiliary verbs for the negative or the questions. Can I go? I can't go
Can/Can´t is followed by the infinitive of a verb without to. I can sing
POSITIVE + stress the infinitive - I can dance.
NEGATIVE - stress both, but stress 'can't' a lot! - I CAN'T swim.
SHORT ANSWERS:
Yes, I/you/he/she/it/we/they can. + (we only stress 'can' in short answers!)
No, I/you/he/she/it/we/they can't. - (we stress CAN´T a lot)
- we did exercises 5A a and b on page 219
- we did exercise 4 pronunciation and played a game
